Standing at 22 feet tall, this quirky statue of a man with a chicken head holding a bucket of chicken was originally a rooftop advertisement for a fried chicken restaurant in the 1960s.
After the original restaurant closed in 1984, the statue was stored for over 20 years before being installed on top of a building on North Figueroa Street in 2007.
Art director Amy Inouye led a campaign to rescue and preserve the statue, eventually finding it a new home at her design studio in Highland Park.
The statue has become a beloved symbol of local creativity and resilience, often celebrated in local art and community events.
From T-shirts to postcards, the statue's image is used in various memorabilia, celebrating its quirky charm and local history.
