The Green Dragon Tavern is often referred to as the 'Headquarters of the Revolution' because it was a meeting place for the Sons of Liberty, including Paul Revere and Samuel Adams, where they planned the Boston Tea Party.
The tavern's basement was used by the St. Andrew's Lodge of Freemasons, which included several key figures in the American Revolution.
The original building was demolished in 1854, but a new tavern bearing the same name was established nearby to honor its historical significance.
The current Green Dragon Tavern is located near the Freedom Trail, a popular walking route that highlights significant sites from the American Revolution.
In addition to serving food and drink, it functioned as a meeting hall and a place for public discourse during the colonial period.
