Standing at 3,111 feet, Sandstone Peak offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands on clear days.
This trail, named after a Native American legend, is a popular 6.1-mile loop that leads hikers to Sandstone Peak.
The peak was named in honor of W. Herbert Allen, a Boy Scout leader who played a significant role in the area's conservation efforts.
The area is home to a variety of wildlife, including mule deer, bobcats, and over 380 species of native plants.
The sandstone formations in the area are part of the Conejo Volcanics, which date back to the Miocene epoch, around 15 million years ago.
Inspiration Point, located along the trail, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The Mediterranean climate of the region means the trail is accessible year-round, but spring offers the most vibrant wildflower displays.
