Fun Facts

The center serves as the main entry point to Guadalupe Peak, the tallest point in Texas at 8,751 feet, located within the Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

The area is home to a rare combination of desert and mountain ecosystems, featuring species like the Texas madrone and the Mexican pinyon pine.

The Guadalupe Mountains were once part of a vast Permian reef, and the visitor center provides exhibits on the fossilized remains of marine creatures from over 250 million years ago.

The route, which passed through the area in the mid-1800s, was a crucial mail and passenger stagecoach service connecting the eastern United States with the west.

Visitors can access over 80 miles of trails, ranging from easy walks to challenging hikes, offering breathtaking views of the Chihuahuan Desert and the Guadalupe Mountains.
