The glacier is located within the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, which is part of the Kluane/Wrangell-St. Elias/Glacier Bay/Tatshenshini-Alsek UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its outstanding natural beauty and geological significance.

The area surrounding the glacier is home to diverse wildlife, including grizzly bears, moose, and Dall sheep, making it a fascinating spot for nature enthusiasts.

The glacier is situated near the Wrangell Volcanic Field, which includes Mount Wrangell, one of the largest active volcanoes in North America.
