The Leaning Tower of Niles is a 94-foot-tall replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, built in 1934 by industrialist Robert Ilg as part of a recreation park for his employees.
The tower was constructed to conceal a water tank that provided water to the outdoor swimming pools of the Ilg Hot Air Electric Ventilating Company.
In 1991, the Leaning Tower of Niles and the Leaning Tower of Pisa became sister cities, strengthening cultural ties between the two communities.
In 1995, the tower was restored at a cost of $1.2 million to preserve its structure and appearance for future generations.
The surrounding area hosts various community events, including concerts and festivals, making it a lively gathering place for residents.
