Fun Facts

Constructed in 1910, the Kuskulana Bridge was part of the Copper River and Northwestern Railway, designed to transport copper ore from the Kennecott Mines to the port of Cordova.

The bridge stands approximately 238 feet above the Kuskulana River, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness.

Today, the bridge is part of the McCarthy Road, a 60-mile gravel road leading to the historic town of McCarthy and the Kennecott Mines National Historic Landmark.

At the time of its construction, the Kuskulana Bridge was considered an engineering marvel due to its height and the challenging terrain it spans.

The bridge's dramatic setting and historic significance make it a favorite subject for photographers capturing the rugged beauty of Alaska.
