Fun Facts

Built in 1870, the Imes Bridge is the oldest of the six remaining covered bridges in Madison County, Iowa.

Originally located over the Middle River, the bridge was moved twice, first in 1887 and again in 1977, to its current location in Saint Charles.

The Imes Bridge, along with other covered bridges in the area, inspired the setting for the novel 'The Bridges of Madison County' by Robert James Waller.

The bridge is constructed in the Town lattice truss style, a popular design for covered bridges in the 19th century.

Its picturesque setting and historical significance make it a favorite subject for photographers and history enthusiasts alike.
