The Grove of Titans, a collection of some of the largest coast redwoods, was discovered in 1998 by botanists Stephen Sillett and Michael Taylor.
To protect the delicate ecosystem from damage due to increased foot traffic, a new elevated boardwalk was constructed in 2021 to allow visitors to experience the grove without harming the forest floor.
The grove contains several of the world's largest coast redwoods, including the Lost Monarch, which is over 320 feet tall and has a trunk volume of over 42,000 cubic feet.
The grove supports a rich variety of plant and animal life, including rare species like the marbled murrelet and the northern spotted owl.
The grove is located within Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, which is part of the Redwood National and State Parks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
