Fun Facts

The trail was formerly called Negro Bill Canyon, but was renamed in 2017 to honor William Grandstaff, a Black cowboy who ran cattle in the area in the late 1800s.

The Grandstaff Canyon Trail leads to Morning Glory Natural Bridge, the sixth longest natural rock span in the United States, measuring 243 feet.

The round-trip hike to the Morning Glory Natural Bridge is approximately 4.5 miles, making it a moderate trek suitable for families.

The canyon supports a diverse range of plant and animal life, including cottonwood trees, desert wildflowers, and various bird species.

Grandstaff Canyon Trailhead is located within the Colorado Riverway Recreation Area, which is managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

Spring and fall are ideal times to hike the trail, as temperatures are milder and the scenery is particularly vibrant.
