Claim this place to tell your story your way.
It was dedicated on September 10, 2011, and honors the 749 New Jersey residents who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.
The name 'Empty Sky' was inspired by a Bruce Springsteen song that reflects the void left in the skyline after the Twin Towers fell.
These walls are 210 feet long, the exact width of the Twin Towers, and point directly to where the towers once stood.
The walls are engraved with the names of the New Jersey residents who perished in the attacks, serving as a poignant reminder of their lives.
Frederic Schwartz Architects, based in New York, designed the memorial to create a space for reflection and remembrance.
The stainless steel walls reflect the changing sky, symbolizing the ever-present memory of those lost.
This location was chosen for its direct line of sight to the former World Trade Center site, enhancing its symbolic significance.
