Dumbo the Flying Elephant has been delighting visitors since Disneyland's opening day on July 17, 1955.
The ride vehicles are designed to resemble Dumbo himself, complete with his signature gray color and big ears.
The original concept was inspired by the pink elephants from the 'Pink Elephants on Parade' sequence in the Dumbo movie, but it was changed to feature Dumbo himself.
The feather is a nod to the movie, where Dumbo uses a 'magic' feather to help him fly, adding a touch of movie magic to the experience.
A similar ride exists in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida, offering a nearly identical experience to its California counterpart.
There are 16 Dumbo ride vehicles, each capable of holding two guests, allowing for a whimsical flight around the attraction.
Originally located in Fantasyland, the ride was moved during the 1983 Fantasyland renovation to its current location near the Storybook Land Canal Boats.
