Duffy Square is named in honor of Father Francis P. Duffy, a chaplain who served with the 69th Infantry Regiment during World War I.
The square features a statue of Father Duffy himself, which was sculpted by Charles Keck and dedicated in 1937.
Duffy Square is actually the northern triangle of Times Square, located between 45th and 47th Streets.
The TKTS booth in Duffy Square is a popular spot for purchasing discounted Broadway show tickets, often with lines stretching around the block.
The red steps above the TKTS booth are a favorite spot for tourists to sit and take in the bustling atmosphere of Times Square.
Originally known as "Longacre Square," the area was renamed Times Square in 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters there, with Duffy Square being officially designated in 1939.
