Fun Facts

The fountain's two 50-foot glass block towers display video images of over 1,000 Chicago residents, making it a unique blend of art and community.

The fountain was designed by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa and was completed in 2004 as part of Millennium Park's development.

The fountain operates from May to October, with water cascading down the towers and spouting from the mouths of the digital faces.

Visitors, especially children, enjoy splashing around in the shallow reflecting pool between the two towers during the warmer months.

The design was inspired by the traditional use of gargoyles in fountains, where water would spout from the mouths of sculpted figures.

It is one of several public art installations in Millennium Park, which also includes the famous Cloud Gate sculpture, known as 'The Bean.'

It has become a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike, fostering a sense of community and interaction.
