The Commonwealth Avenue Mall is an integral part of the Emerald Necklace, a chain of parks designed by the famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted in the 19th century.
The mall features several statues, including one of Alexander Hamilton, which was installed in 1865, making it one of the oldest public statues in Boston.
Stretching for about 1.5 miles, the Commonwealth Avenue Mall serves as a green corridor connecting the Boston Public Garden to the Back Bay Fens.
The mall is home to a diverse collection of trees, including American elms, which are part of a city-wide effort to preserve this species after many were lost to Dutch elm disease.
Throughout the year, the mall hosts various community events and gatherings, making it a lively spot for both locals and visitors.
