The memorial, located in Sacramento, was dedicated in 1988 to honor California peace officers who have died in the line of duty.

The memorial features bronze sculptures of three peace officers, symbolizing the past, present, and future of law enforcement.

As of 2023, the memorial bears the names of over 1,600 officers who have sacrificed their lives since California became a state.

The memorial is located within the 40-acre Capitol Park, which surrounds the California State Capitol building.
