Fun Facts

From early October to early March, Cadillac Mountain's summit is the first spot in the continental U.S. to catch the morning sun.

At 1,530 feet, it is the tallest mountain along the North Atlantic seaboard.

It was named after the French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, who also founded Detroit.

The mountain is located within Acadia National Park, which was established in 1919.

The mountain is primarily composed of pink granite, which gives it a distinctive appearance.

Visitors can drive up the paved road to the summit, making it one of the most accessible peaks in the region.

The area is home to a variety of wildlife, including peregrine falcons and white-tailed deer.

There are several trails, including the popular South Ridge Trail, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
