Fun Facts

Constructed in 1943, it was the final traditional lighthouse erected in the state, marking the end of an era in maritime navigation.

The lighthouse is located on the University of Connecticut's Avery Point campus, serving as a historical landmark for students and visitors alike.

After being decommissioned in 1967, it wasn't until 2006 that the lighthouse was relit following a restoration project.

While the lighthouse itself is closed, visitors can enjoy the surrounding park and views of Long Island Sound.

Its construction was completed in 1943, during a time when many resources were directed towards the war effort.
